Our client, a council in Melbourne’s southern suburbs, is urgently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer or Senior Payroll Officer (depending on your skills and background) to join their team immediately.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a critical role as the organisation implements a new payroll system – Aurion. Your experience with Aurion and strong payroll expertise will be essential to a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, timely fortnightly payroll runs, including accounting journals, bank transfers and EFT payments.
- Ensure compliance with all industrial agreements, Council policies and legal obligations, including NES.
- Provide professional payroll support and advice to management and staff.
- Process reconciliations, payroll deductions and prepare year-end reports and terminations including ETP.
- Maintain integrity and compliance across payroll systems and support continuous improvement.
- You bring hands-on experience with Aurion and a track record in payroll processing within a complex environment.
- You have strong knowledge of awards, EBAs, and current payroll legislation.
- You’re proactive, detail-focused, and a strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Local government experience and familiarity with Chris21 or similar systems are highly regarded.
