- Seeking an experienced Advisor in Workers Compensation and Return to work Strategies
I am currently seeking an experienced Health and Wellbeing Advisor for a permanent role in Sydney CBD. My client is within a Transport and Logistics sector and located close to Wynyard station.
This is a newly created role that will partner closely with the GM of Health and Wellbeing and will primarily focus on the delivery of the Group wellbeing strategy, workers compensation and early intervention programs.
This role will be mainly based from the head office in Sydney CBD and will involve travel across NSW and interstate as required.
The ideal candidate will bring sound knowledge of Workers Compensation Legislation, return to work coordination and have strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Previous experience in working within the Transport and Logistics or industrial sectors would be highly advantageous.
Day to day duties
- Responsible for implementing Return to Work program and initiatives
- Deliver and implement broader health and mental health strategies across the group
- Act as the main point of contact for recovering employees, healthcare providers, and insurers to monitor and track the progress of recovering staff in line with return-to-work procedures
- Advising business units and leaders for the management of workers' compensation and effective workplace injury occurrences
- Management of common law claims and high-risk claims in line with the company's insurance policies and relevant legislation
- Partner with the GM Health & Wellbeing and workplace risk advisory team on the placement and renewal of Group workers compensation policies, including submission of wage declarations
- Work with the GM Health & Wellbeing and the relevant broker on self-insurance feasibility and implementation strategy
- Implement and deliver early intervention strategies to mitigate future workplace risk exposures
- Compile and analyse monthly workers compensation reports identifying trends and other workers compensation metrics
- Provide strategic advice to business unit Directors, Managers and employees regarding the injury management system and the necessary documentation
- Provide technical advice and instruction in relation to severe and high-cost claims and escalate when required
- Review company policies to ensure compliance with state legislative requirements
- Assist finance teams with workers compensation debtors
- Assist with escalations to pre-employment and annual medical assessments, providing advice and assistance with interpretation and outcome of assessments.
- Foster working relationships with business unit Directors, Managers, State Return to Work Coordinators and Insurers
- Assist sites with general return to work and injury management queries
- Train and educate managers, supervisors and workers about injury management and return to work processes.
- Tertiary level qualifications in a relevant field
- Sound knowledge of workers compensation legislation and return to work strategies
- Clear understanding of interstate legislative requirements
- Preferably previous experience working within a Transport and Logistics environment.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
- Ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder managements skills.
