Tobacco Regulatory Enforcement Coordinator - NSW Government Contract
  • Initial 12 month contract with view to extend
  • $55 per hour + super
  • St Leonards location
  • 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Legal and/or Government experience is highly beneficial 
This Government department within the Health sector is seeking and experienced profession who is ready to hit the ground running. You will be working within a team across a newly established project in a supportive and friendly working environment. Candidates with experience in regulatory and compliance would be highly beneficial, especially with legal backgrounds.

Duties will include but not limited to:
  • Review of enforcement actions and reports to ensure sufficient evidence to take enforcement action
  • Review prosecution briefs and prepare approval documents to progress prosecutions
  • Conduct all court appearance work for prosecutions from the Tobacco & E-cigarettes Compliance Team until either a plea of not guilty is entered into by the defendant or until such time as the matter is taken over by legal representatives engaged by the Ministry
  • Develop and implement enforcement governance documents, policies, procedures and protocols
  • Ensure compliance activities are undertaken in a cohesive, consistent, effective and efficient manner in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives associated with the development, implementation and continual improvement of a strategic, risk-based approach to compliance programs
  • Assist with Ministerial briefings and correspondence on regulatory and compliance monitoring activities
Ideal experience:
  • Extensive experience in regulatory and compliance activity including interpretation of legislation.
  • Relevant legal tertiary qualifications desired and / or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience with conducting court appearance work
  • Strong administration experience
  • Exceptional communication skills both written an verbal
