Job description

- Recruiting ASAP for a Jan 2025 start
- Monitor, identify, and assess cybersecurity risks, threats, and incidents, including breaches and potential intrusions, while alerting relevant agencies to take appropriate action.
- Analyse the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of cyber threats targeting the government to determine their origins, motives, and capabilities.
- Develop timely and actionable intelligence reports on emerging cyber trends, threats, and issues impacting NSW assets.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, as well as vendors, to monitor, detect, report, and share information on cyber vulnerabilities, incidents, and trends.
- Investigate and evaluate security breaches within your area of responsibility to ensure compliance with Whole-of-Government (WoG) cybersecurity policies and standards.
- Provide expert technical insights and knowledge to produce reports on current and emerging cybersecurity risks and trends.
- Offer recommendations to enhance cybersecurity practices across NSW Government agencies.
- Understand stakeholder needs, manage team portfolios, prioritise tasks, and meet established goals and deadlines effectively.
- Understanding of the NSW government cyber security standards (essential)
- NSW government experience (essential)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks (e.g., Essential 8, NIST, ISO 27001), and tools.
- Experience with intrusion detection systems (IDS), firewalls, antivirus, and other security tools.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
