Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer to join an education body on a 3-month fixed-term contract, starting ASAP until the end of January 2025. This is a full-time working, Monday – Friday. The company is based on the edge of the CBD. The organisation offers flexible working, 3 days in the office & 2 from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support demographic and enrolment analysis and contribute to strategic planning.
- Work with local councils and authorities to obtain necessary planning approvals.
- Assist in identifying and analyzing new sites, including capital development.
- Provide general planning advice.
- Proven experience in using GIS software (preferably QGIS).
- Expertise in demographic analysis, enrolment forecasting, and statutory planning.
- Demonstrated successful experience in provision planning at a strategic level and/or projects and knowledge of demographic trends and residential development in Melbourne and Victoria
- Good interpersonal communication skills, and good formal presentation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels
- Tertiary qualifications in Geography, Urban Planning, Mapping or Geospatial Science.
- Enjoy a hybrid work arrangement with flexible options—3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
- Gain valuable experience in strategic planning and GIS software within the education sector.
- Be part of a supportive team of 6, reporting directly to the team leader and contributing to impactful projects.
