Senior Financial Accountant (Accounting and Treasury Policy Compliance)

Job description

• NSW State Government
• 6 Months contract 
• Rate: $600 - $700 per day + super
• Located in Parramatta SQ + WFH

• Develop and maintain fit for purpose accounting and NSW Treasury compliance policies to facilitate accurate financial reporting and business financial decisions.
• Develop processes, controls and reporting requirements to facilitate departmental compliance with relevant NSW Treasury accounting and compliance policies.
• Develop and maintain guidelines and resources to enable appropriate accounting and NSW Treasury policy application.
• Drive processes to obtain and document evidence of the department’s compliance with relevant NSW Treasury policies, and completion of compliance reporting to meet NSW Treasury policy requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of policies, procedures, guidelines, controls and reporting processes to suit the needs of the department, and to reflect new or modified accounting standards and NSW Treasury accounting policies.

• Knowledge and experience in applying Australian accounting standards and NSW Treasury accounting and compliance policies and requirements
• Experience with financial accounting risk identification and implementation of fit for purpose financial governance, accounting policy, processes and controls
• Degree in accounting or finance discipline and eligibility for membership of a recognised professional association or demonstrated relevant and successful workplace experience
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public sector.
