Our NSW State Government client is looking for an experienced Python Developer with ETL expertise to join the team on a 5-month contract. This role focuses on migrating data packages from a legacy application to a new DRF platform, involving data transformation and collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for a seamless integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Migration - Migrate information packages, including files and metadata, from the legacy application to the new DRF platform.
  • Data Transformation - Convert data specifications as needed to ensure compatibility.
  • Monitoring & Reporting - Implement logging and reporting systems to track each migration’s progress.
  • Iterative Development - Conduct multiple migration cycles, refining until SMEs approve the target system output.
  • Integration - Scale the migration pipeline for bulk processing once mappings are finalised.
  • Error Handling - Develop a retry mechanism for reprocessing failed packages after manual corrections.
  • Documentation - Record the migration process to enable other team members to monitor and manage migrations effectively.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to address complex mappings based on specific metadata and logic requirements.
About You:
  • 5+ years of experience in Python development
  • Extensive experience with ETL processes for application data migration
  • Proficient in APIs (SOAP and REST), XML, JSON, and SQL
  • Familiarity with Git version control (preferably GitHub)
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
  • Comfortable with a Linux development environment
  • AWS experience is a plus
