Our client, a local government just south of Melbourne’s CBD is looking for a Safety Business Partner to join their Safety team. You will be reporting into the Head of People Health Safety & Wellbeing.
As a Safety Business Partner, you will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture, providing expert advice on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will partner with senior leaders to develop proactive safety strategies, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a full-time role, working Monday – Friday. The position is due to start mid-February and is initially contracted until the 16th May and could lead to longer term work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of workplace safety strategies
- Provide expert guidance on OHS regulations and best practices
- Partner with leaders to embed safety culture across the organisation
- Conduct audits, risk assessments, and workplace safety inspections
- Deliver targeted training programs and safety awareness initiatives
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Relevant degree or diploma in OHS, Risk Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a senior safety role
- Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance, and risk management
- Proven ability to coach and influence senior leaders on safety practices
- Experience in local government or large organisations (desirable)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
